ChatGPT AI vs The Photoshop Guy: A Retro Challenge
Anyone who knows me will tell you—I’m a huge fan of video games, especially the retro classics. With SEGA re-releasing some of their legendary titles for the modern era, I felt inspired to pay tribute to one of the all-time greats: OutRun.
As a digital artist, I decided to put myself to the test… my photo editing against AI.
I tasked ChatGPT’s image generation capabilities with creating a piece of art inspired by OutRun, using only a description of the image I had in my mind. After generating its version, I revealed my own artwork—created from scratch using my photo editing and digital art skills.
Initially, the AI actually preferred my version. But after seeing my artwork, I gave it a second chance to improve its attempt. The final verdict from ChatGPT? It was too close to call—a draw.
So now I turn it over to you: who did it better? The AI… or The Photoshop Guy?
